Your First Chat

The Admin Panel is the management surface, not the chat surface. To talk to an AI, you open a separate window called the OpenClaw UI (Hermes UI for Vi).

Open Rose’s Chat Window

Option 1 — From the Admin Panel

  1. Sign in to the Admin Panel
  2. Switch to the Rose (oc-1) tab
  3. Click the OpenClaw UI button in the top-right
  4. A new tab opens with Rose’s chat interface

Option 2 — Directly from the Welcome Email

Open your welcome email and click Rose’s OpenClaw UI link. You go straight to her chat window.

Say Hi to Rose

With the chat window open, try:

Hi Rose. Please introduce yourself and tell me what you can do for me.

Rose will reply with:

  • Her name and role
  • The tools she currently has access to
  • A summary of her recent activity
  • Her conversation style (personality)

What should you ask first? A useful opening line is: “List the tools you have and the tasks you handle most often.” Rose will give you her capability map up front, which beats trial-and-error.

Try a Few Basic Commands

Ask for the Current Time

What time is it? What timezone is the server set to?

Rose runs the system date command and walks you through the timezone setting.

Ask for System Status

What is the CPU and memory usage on this server right now?

She runs top or a similar tool and explains the output in plain language.

Ask Her to Write a File

Create a file at ~/hello.txt with the content "hello world".

She will:

  1. Tell you what she is about to do
  2. Run echo "hello world" > ~/hello.txt
  3. Confirm the result

Rose usually announces her plan before running a system operation and pauses for confirmation on anything significant. You can tune how proactive she is — see Agent Personality.
